Greetings from Houston! Houston, the town that a city was built around. You will be reading this either just before or just after our 100th anniversary. I just hope you were able to make it.
We will have a new web site soon. I tried to get on it but it was not ready yet. It will be online soon so keep trying.
We had an election in October that will fill all spot’s except BM and BR.
UNION: an act or instance of uniting or joining two or more things into one. UNION: an organization of workers formed for the purpose of advancing its members' interests in respect to wages, benefits, and working conditions. The word Union can mean different things. One thing for sure it means putting thing’s together to help something out. I have noticed how many people are against unions and may belong to one for their whole life. There are organizations that exist that help all forms of civic needs. Chamber of Commerce in various towns is against unions but in fact they are a union. Their main function is to help promote businesses and help commerce in the town they are in. They take dues and have fundraisers that help their cause. Texas has the Cattlemen’s Association that requires dues and has political influence in Austin to help cattle raisers. In Houston, we have the Greater Houston Partnership that encompasses many organizations into one to try and promote Houston and the surrounding area. These are unions that help their constituents. Everybody wants an edge and is willing to pay someone to help them achieve their goal. We pay dues and expect those in charge to help achieve our goals. I still don’t understand why people are so anti Union when most people belong to one.
As always joe
