You just never know the fun and excitement that can occur at
a Local 31 meeting. Before the meeting was adjourned, I was assuming the
responsibilities of Correspondent to the Journal. This is the second time
around for me. I will try to do my best to represent this proud Local. Speaking
of pride, I had a good friend of mine, Steve Wood, Business Representative of
Local 19, visit with me and attend our 100th anniversary
celebration. Let me tell you, he was impressed and so was I. What a very
impressive event it was and once again a grateful Thank You for the Anniversary
Committee and the hard work they put in. There are three ladies I especially
want to mention that probably kept the whole thing glued together, Phaedra
Kowis, wife of Brother Joe Kowis, Dene Collier, wife of Brother Randy Collier
and Sharon Barajas, wife of Brother Al Barajas. Thank you ladies for your
support. I personally sponsored a retiree, Brother Billy Reed of Caldwell, Texas.
It was good to see all the retired members that were in attendance. The
displays that were present for everyone to see were also impressive and the
hospitality was second to none.
I informed my wife, Linda Lou Lankford, the pride of Forrest, Mississippi,
of my new position. She promised to scan my articles so that they are held to
the highest journalistic standards, you know, spwellin, gramma, punksituation
and any other thang she might find wrong.
Please visit our web site, iuec31.org, to catch up on the
latest news affecting our local. If you would like me to submit anything to our
monthly Journal, you can e-mail me at lankford5850@comcast.net.
Work safe,
Brando
